An afternoon snowmobile tour for adults, designed for couples and adult groups who want to ride a little further into the backcountry. Small group, usually 4 to 6 snowmobiles, from our base in Sinettä, 20 minutes north of Rovaniemi. We provide everything you need for the ride except your own base layers. Show up warm underneath, and we handle the rest.

We head out at 14:00 into the backcountry north of Rovaniemi. The trails here are calmer, the forest thicker, and the landscape feels more remote than the routes closer to the city. The route takes us deeper into the forest, into terrain that's a bit more varied — narrower trails, gentle climbs, softer snow where it's safe to play a little. Because the riding is more active here, we don't take the passenger sledge on this route, so it's a tour for adults.

The Arctic afternoon light is part of the experience. In the depths of winter, the sun doesn't rise above the horizon at all — but that doesn't mean darkness. The whole short day becomes a long sunset in soft blues, pinks and oranges. As spring approaches, the days get longer, but the low sun keeps the colours.

The briefing covers today's weather, how the snowmobile works, and how we ride together as a group. Once we head out, the first stretch is easy to help everyone feel comfortable on the machine. As the group settles in, the pace picks up. Your guide rides with the group and shares practical tips on body position, stable riding, and reading the terrain ahead.

Most guests choose a single snowmobile — it's easier to handle and more enjoyable when you're learning. If you're travelling as a couple and prefer to share, that works too, and you can switch drivers at the breaks.

Suitable for: couples and adult groups who want a slightly more active ride than a basic introduction, people who enjoy ATVs, motorcycles or other motor sports. No previous experience needed.

How to book?

One snowmobile seats two. Share it (price per person) or ride solo on a single. A shared snowmobile needs 2 people booked together — you can switch driver at breaks. Mixing shared and single in your group? Add each separately in the cart and check out together. Free pickup and the optional liability waiver are chosen at checkout.

Drivers must be 20 or over and hold a valid Category B driving licence. Anyone 15 or over can join as a passenger on a shared snowmobile — book them as an Adult. There is no passenger sleigh on this route, so younger children can't join this tour.

PolarMax is a small family business located in Sinettä, 20 km north of Rovaniemi. The backcountry here is our home. We’ve spent our lives roaming these trails, training drivers and guiding people through Arctic nature. We started PolarMax because we wanted to share something we genuinely love — riding through real Lapland wilderness, far from the tourist routes. The feeling of discovery, adventure, and friendship.
