Arktikum is a science centre and a museum. 
The exhibitions of the Arktikum leads you through Arctic areas’ and Finnish Lapland’s history and modern day. 

You can see the Northern Lights multivision show almost every day in the Polarium Theatre. Arktikum also arranges several temporary exhibitions and events related to Northern themes. The Arctic in Change is set up in very friendly, interactive and aesthetic environment based on the human and seasonal cycles in the Arctic. The exhibition is dealing with
the current changes in the Arctic.

Chronicles from the Finnish Lapland.
Northern Ways is an exhibition about stages in man and nature in the North. Find out about the life of the moose and bear in the wild, take a glimpse at city birds and pearl catching. The exhibition also features Sámi culture, with its costumes and languages, and small-scale models of Rovaniemi from 1939 and 1944.

There are many souvenir shops as well as Santa’s Main Post Office, programme service companies and cafes and restaurants in the Santa Claus Village. And of course, Santa is there too, in his chamber every day of the year.

Information, guide service and Arctic Circle Crossing Certificates are available from the Arctic Circle Information Office.

Santa Claus Village is situated 8 km to the north of Rovaniemi direction Ivalo along highway number 4. You can reach the Arctic Circle also easily by
local bus number 8.

There’s plenty of activity at Santa Claus’ Post Office all year round. All mail addressed to Santa Claus arrives here. Approximately 700 000 deliveries arrive each year from over 150 countries.

Santa’s own greetings are also posted here with Santa Claus’ Post Office’s special postmark to children all over the world. Situated in a central location at Santa Claus Village, Santa Claus’ Post Office is open to the public every day of the year. The post office elves always bid you a warm welcome.

The new Christmas House at the Arctic Circle in the Santa Claus Village hosts the unique Christmas-theme exhibition. The exhibition covers today’s Christmas customs as well as centuries-old Finnish and foreign Christmas traditions.

The exhibition includes three fascinating exhibits covering nearly 400 square meters:
• Finnish Christmas, Christmas traditions and Lapland’s Santa Claus, “Joulupukki”
• Most recognized Christmas traditions around the World
• The Elves’ Toy Factory

Santa Claus Office in a mysterious grotto in the depths of the earth.

You can also meet Santa’s little elf helpers at work, study at the Elf School or decorate gingerbread figures with Mrs Claus. Crowning your visit is a thrilling show.

The Pilke Science Centre tells us, through all our five human senses, about the sustainable use of northern forests. Come to see, hear, smell, taste and touch!

Pilke Shop offers the products of Finnish forest to all senses. The customer service of Pilke House helps you in matters related to the Pilke Science Centre and Metsähallitus.

The Pilke Science Centre will open to the public 20.6.2011. Until June 2011 the Pilke House Customer Service and the Pilke Shop are open Mon-Fri 8-16.

Group tickets: 15-50 persons à 6,50 €, over 50 persons à 6 €. The group price requires an advance booking.
The admission for school and day care groups is free of charge with the teacher/supervisor if the group booking was made beforehand.

   KORUNDI HOUSE OF CULTURE - ROVANIEMI ART MUSEUM

Construction work on the Korundi House of Culture began in October 2009. The building's inauguration was celebrated in May 2011. Part of the depot has been occupied by the Rovaniemi Art Museum since 1986. As well as continuing to house the Art Museum, Korundi will provide the Chamber Orchestra of Lapland with its first permanent space. Korundi will also serve other groups by providing space for cultural events and house a café-cum-restaurant and museum/music shop.

The Jenny and Antti Wihuri Foundation collection of Finnish art as well as changing exhibitions are on display at Rovaniemi Art Museum.

Ranua Wildlife Park is situated 80 km to the south of Rovaniemi direction Kajaani along road number 78.

There are about 60 species of arctic and northern wild animals at Ranua Zoo, including the bear, the only polar bears in Finland, lynx, wolf, wolverine, moose and many, many more.

Amethyst mine on top of Lampivaara hill is located in the immediate vicinity of the Luosto tourism centre, appr. 130 km to the north of Rovaniemi, in the middle of Lapland’s beautiful landscape.

The sustainable Lampivaara Amethyst mine is possibly the only gemstone mine in the world that welcomes visitors. The mine at the top of the hill introduces you to the fascinating world of gemstones.You will hear stories told for millennia, and get to dig for your own lucky amethyst, that has waited 2000 million years to be found.

   ROVANIEMI CHURCH

The present church in Rovaniemi was completed in 1950. It was designed by the architect Bertil Liljequist.

The interior of the church is dominated by a huge fresco behind the altar. It’s called the Source of Life and it was realised by Professor Lennart Segerstråle in 1951.

The church seats 850 people and it features a 45-key organ from the Christensen Organ Factory.

Lappia Hall, Library and City Hall designed by the academic Alvar Aalto form an administrative and cultural centre in the heart of the city. Other buildings designed by him are the Korkalorinne garden city district and the private house "Maison Aho".
Aalto also designed the reindeer antler lay out of Rovaniemi.

German soldiers’ cemetery at Norvajärvi, 18 km north of Rovaniemi.The mausoleum is the resting place for more than 2500 Germans who fell in the Second World War. Open to the public April-September. At other times by special arrangement.

Enchanting ice
The icy ambience of Arctice's large igloo literally reaches from the floor to the ceiling. The art gallery is filled with animal figures and story characters that are carved out of ice to stunning detail. The ice bar and café serve kids with raspberry red beverages and adults with icy clear drinks – and the drinking glasses are made out of ice, of course! Arctice is fully licensed.

You have to experience the thrill of our slide! This fierce but safe ride is one of the greatest achievements of the art and science of slide-making. The speedy ride will tickle your toes and tug at the bottom of your belly. Settle into the snowtube – and brace yourself! A large slide has been built for grown-ups, while kids can race down a slightly smaller slide.

We have own workshop in front of our house. Visitors can observe our work and listen to the story about reindeer. Ari is a specialist of making Lapish traditional hand-made products with using reindeer´s antlers and woods. Tourists are also welcome to our Lappish log home, which Ari built in 2001. We will chat with visitors about life in Lapland by the sound of silence.
