The Aurora Borealis are visible in Rovaniemi from late August until mid-April making the Northern Lights season 8 months long in Rovaniemi! Rovaniemi is one of the best places in the world to see the Aurora Borealis, and also provides numerous guided Northern Lights tours provided by professionals.
From late July until September, locals go berry picking in the forests and on the bogs. The cloudberry is the crown jewel of Lapland’s berries, but bilberry (northern blueberry), lingonberry and cranberry are all healthy and desired catches.
