2 km sled rides, Christmas Season
About
During this experience you can learn about Siberian huskies and see how a team of dogs is driven. The sleds are driven by our guides and participants sit in the sleds. It is suitable for those who don't want to drive a sled themselves but prefer to just sit back and enjoy the ride.

January, December
You can reach us best by car but only use the main highways, not the side roads as they are not cleared of snow in the winter. It takes 45 minutes to get here from Rovaniemi. However, it is also possible to use the local bus service to get here. Please take the bus from Rovaniemi bus station platform 3. The bus journey takes approx. one hour and picks up passengers along the way. There is only a limited service so please check the timetables before booking your husky tour. Search for buses online at matkahuolto.fi that depart from Rovaniemi to Tiainen or Luosto, then when you are on the bus, ask the driver to drop you off at Korvala. Tickets can be bought on the bus.
- Ride or Drive?
We use the term "ride" for when you sit in the sled as a passenger and "drive" for when you stand at the back of the sled on the sled's runners holding onto the handle bar and you drive the sled yourself (self-drive), after having a driving lesson. All of our tours have experienced mushers as guides who lead the tours through the forest. On a self-drive sledding tour, you follow the guides, driving your own sled and team of dogs, with passengers from your own booking riding in your sled.
- Weather conditions
We need a few centimetres of snow for the activity to take place. The temperature limit for our products is -30°C. In colder temperatures, we do not consider it safe to do the activity, especially in the case of participating children. Wind chill from velocity also needs to be considered: e.g. -30°C with wind chill along the fastest part of the route is equivalent to approx -44°C, which means there is a high risk of frostbite within a couple of minutes of exposure. The entire activity takes place outside, so participants must wear suitable winter clothing, including woollen layers, winter hats, scarves/buffs and mittens, with woollen gloves inside the mittens. We offer optional additional winter overalls and boots for participants to rent. Our overalls provide an extra layer of protection but are not warm enough by themselves. If you need to rent winter clothing from us, you must arrive ½ an hour earlier. This activity is not suitable for children under 2 years of age.
When temperatures drop below -30°C, the cold also affects the welfare of the dogs, so this will always be taken into consideration if this happens during an activity, and may result in a change of route. However, it can also be too warm sometimes, so when temperatures go too far above 0°C, there is an increased risk of injury due to soft trails. In this case, we will try to reschedule the departure time so that we can take advantage of cooler temperatures.
- Restrictions
The weight limit for our sleds is 180kg – this means the combined weight of the passengers, where no one individual weighs more than 120kg.
- Terms and Conditions of Service
Please read these terms and conditions carefully before continuing with your order. Your order of our product, activity or service constitutes acceptance of these terms and conditions.
