A private snowmobile ride through the Lapland afternoon, just your group, from our base in Sinettä — a small village 20 minutes north of Rovaniemi. We provide everything you need for the ride except your own base layers. Show up warm underneath, and we handle the rest.

You arrive at base around 14:00. After the briefing and kitting out — thermal overalls, boots, helmet and gloves — the first stretch is the training section, getting a feel for the throttle and the brake. Then the trail opens up into forest and frozen lakes, and the light starts to change. The sun stays low, the snow takes on softer colours, and the day slowly turns to evening.

Somewhere along the way we stop — there’s a thermos of hot drinks and some snacks along for the ride if anyone wants them, and it’s a good chance to take in the light and the silence. Your guide reads the day as it goes, finding the best spots for the conditions.

It’s a private tour, so it’s just your group out there — up to 6 snowmobiles, no other guests. Children from age 4 are welcome and ride in the covered, insulated sleigh pulled by the guide.

If you have a specific interest — drone footage, photography, fresh snow — mention it when you book or as we go. We have a 360 camera, drone and professional camera available for guests at no extra charge.

How to book?

Choose your date and the number of riders in your group, then pick the riding type for each person: sharing a snowmobile (two riders per machine) or your own single snowmobile. You can mix both types in the same booking. Minimum 2 persons.

The price per person depends on the riding type. In addition, the private tour has a fixed base fee of 390 € for your group, which is added automatically at checkout. It covers your private guide and the tour for your group, so the more of you ride, the lower the cost per person. Free pickup and the optional liability waiver are chosen at checkout too.

Example — 5 riders, one of them riding solo: choose 4 × shared + 1 × single = 3 snowmobiles + your guide.

Children under 140 cm ride in the guide’s covered sleigh — add them with the “Children in guide’s sleigh” option, booked together with an adult. Children 140 cm or over can ride in the sleigh or as a passenger on a shared snowmobile (book as adult).

Drivers must be 20 or over and hold a valid Category B driving licence.

About us

PolarMax is a small family business located in Sinettä, 20 km north of Rovaniemi. The backcountry here is our home. We’ve spent our lives roaming these trails, training drivers and guiding people through Arctic nature. We started PolarMax because we wanted to share something we genuinely love — riding through real Lapland wilderness, far from the tourist routes. The feeling of discovery, adventure, and friendship.

Our snowmobiles are BRP Lynx Ranger, manufactured 20 minutes from where we ride. Stable, powerful, and built for Arctic conditions. Heated grips and boot warmers for the driver; heated seat and handlebar grips for the passenger. Comfortable suspension, modern fuel-injected 4-stroke engine and built to last.
