Dance Theatre Rimpparemmi

Finland’s northernmost professional dance theatre, Rimpparemmi, offers a unique mix of Finnish folk dance and contemporary dance. The rugged expressivity of folk dance combined with the flow of contemporary dance creates dance theatre pieces that touch, appeal to and entertain all audiences. The theatre’s four professional dancers and two musicians form a tight-knit group that throws itself to performing with frenzy and warmth.

Dance Theatre Rimpparemmi produces two to four full-length pieces annually, and at least one of these performances is created with the younger audience in mind. The theatre’s Artistic Director is Matti Paloniemi. Dance Theatre Rimpparemmi is based in the city of Rovaniemi and tours different cities around Finland, with particular emphasis on the Lapland region. In the repertoaire there are also tailor made performances for several occassions.
