Santa Open Air kicks off the summer festival season in Lapland with a two-day celebration in the heart of Rovaniemi. Probably the biggest event and definitely the most loaded with cultural traditions is Midsummer celebration during the summer solstice at the end of June. The exact date varies but is set on Saturday between the 20th and 26th of June. Midsummer celebration is rich in tradition including cottage life with friends, sauna and of course staying up late admiring the magical midnight sun. Midsummer celebration marks the start of summer holiday season in Finland.
