Mustelid Day at the Ranua Wildlife Park

Mustelid Day is organised in collaboration with Pinja-Emilia Lämsä, a doctoral researcher at Aalto University. Throughout the day, visitors will learn about research on mustelids, including studies on the habitats of the wolverine, pine marten, stoat, least weasel, otter and mink, as well as the environmental changes affecting them.

Programme

11:00–14:00 – Mustelid Information Point in the Wildlife Park

Visit our pop-up information point to learn about mustelids, their habitats and ongoing research in a relaxed and accessible way.

Visitors can also take part in making enrichment items for the animals. This activity is suitable for children of all ages with adult assistance, and offers the whole family an opportunity to learn more about the senses, behaviour and daily lives of mustelids in the Wildlife Park.

15:00–15:30 – Lecture on Mustelid Research at the Wild Arctic Restaurant

In this engaging public lecture, doctoral researcher Pinja-Emilia Lämsä will talk about mustelid research, habitats and how wildlife observations help researchers understand the lives of these species in a changing environment.

The lecture is suitable for anyone interested in nature, animals and scientific research.

Other Animal Programme During the Day

In addition to the special Mustelid Day activities, the Wildlife Park’s regular animal programme will take place as usual:

• 13:00 Polar bear presentation
• 14:15 Feeding time at the Domestic Animal Yard
• 16:30 Arctic fox feeding

Participation in activities held within the Wildlife Park requires a valid admission ticket. The lecture at the Wild Arctic Restaurant is free of charge and open to everyone.
