To make the most of your summer hike in Korouoma Canyon, here’s what we recommend packing (Please note that these are not required and are just nice bonuses):
- Layered Clothing: Even on warm days, temperatures can dip under the forest canopy or by waterfalls—bring a light fleece or windbreaker.
- Waterproof Jacket: Summer showers in Lapland can roll in unexpectedly; a packable rain shell will keep you dry.
- Sturdy Hiking Shoes & Socks: Good grip and ankle support are essential on rocky trails and near slippery falls.
- Sun Protection: Sunglasses, a broad-brimmed hat, and high-SPF sunscreen will guard you during exposed stretches.
- Insect Repellent: Mosquitoes and black flies can be active in July and August—spray on before you head out.
- Reusable Water Bottle: Stay hydrated on the 5 km route—there are places to refill from crystal-clear streams.
- Camera or Smartphone: You won’t want to miss capturing the dramatic cliffs and cascading waterfalls!
