WINTER BREAK SPECIAL: DOUBLE WORKSHOP!
Our full‑day Winter Break Art Thursday is back! The workshop will be running twice, from 12:00–14:00 and again from 16:00–18:00, and participants will get to create miniature textile artworks, these adorable tiny felt‑wool medallions.
Will your finished piece become a wall artwork, a fridge magnet, or perhaps a brooch? Come to the art museum and get inspired by the world of textile art!
In the ever-delightful gelli plate printing workshop, we’ll draw inspiration from Karila’s artworks—their colors and rich layers—and create our own stunning, multi‑layered prints!
The ArtThursday workshop is inspired by the artworks in the upstairs exhibitions. Currently on view are Sanctuary of Dreams by Mia Hamari and Guests of Honour, a collection exhibition from the Jenny and Antti Wihuri Foundation.
In the workshop, participants will build using a variety of materials such as natural materials, beads, and wood. From these materials, you’ll create either a quirky object or a small creature. Elements inspired by human figures, animals, or plants can be combined into the work. The piece can be constructed as a three‑dimensional object or as a relief, using magazine cutouts as a base.
What kinds of curious objects and creatures will emerge?
To celebrate the opening of the Guests of Honour exhibition at the Rovaniemi Art Museum, ArtThursday invites you to create stunning brick-pattern prints using the gelli plate technique—taking inspiration from Korundi’s beautiful red brick walls! Welcome to this special celebratory workshop!
