Rovaniemi is looking forward to welcome the first flight from Milan Malpensa to Rovaniemi Airport on 19 December, and from 1 to 15 December 2021, three Librerie Feltrinelli bookshops in Milan will turn into a special post office where children can mail their Christmas letters and wishes. With the help of an easyJet pilot, on 19 December the letters will be carried on the first flight from Milan Malpensa to Rovaniemi, to be delivered directly to Santa’s enchanted village.

Milan, 1 December 2021 – Every year in December, millions of children from all over the world send their letters to Rovaniemi in Lapland, high above the Arctic Circle, where Santa Claus’ house is located. The elves bend over backwards, the reindeers get ready for the most magical night of the year and Santa Claus tries to make the best of these busy but festive days.

This Christmas, to allow the little ones to discover the magic journey of their letters, Librerie Feltrinelli and easyJet have opened a special post office in three bookshops in Milan (Duomo, Piazza Piemonte and Corso Buenos Aires), offering their help in collecting children’s wishes and delivering them to Santa’s village.

From 1 to 15 December included, all children will find a special mailbox in the Kids Area of these three bookshops where they can post their wish lists. On the last day, an easyJet pilot will collect them in a bag, and then carry them in person on the first easyJet flight departing on 19 December from Milan Malpensa to Rovaniemi to be delivered to the most magical village on the planet, directly into the hands of the man who wears red clothes and hasn’t cut his white beard in decades.

easyJet and Librerie Feltrinelli launch the campaign #dearsantaclaus on the social channels. Via @easyJet_Italia and @laFletrinelli it will be possible to follow the long journey of the children’s wishes step by step: from the collection of the letters in the bookshops, continuing with the opening of the letter boxes and to the journey to Lapland. And finally, the delivery of the letters directly into the hands of Santa Claus, who will hurry up to read the letters and deliver the long-awaited presents to children. Thanks to the support of Visit Rovaniemi and the Finnish airport company Finavia, who have enthusiastically joined the initiative, it will be possible to get a close-up view of the village where Santa Claus and all his precious helpers, on the most awaited and magical night of the year, transform the wishes of millions of children into reality.

“Travelling has always been a wonderful experience and being able to share it with the loved ones makes it even more magical. The new route to Rovaniemi has been planned particularly for a family trip, to experience again the excitement of travelling together to discover an enchanted place, the home of the one who represents the magic of Christmas for both children and grown-ups. We are happy to work together with laFeltrinelli and excited to be able to make the wishes of the youngest come true, personally delivering their letters to Santa Claus on a very special flight, full of dreams, emotions and great hopes” commented Valentina Pedrazzi, Marketing Manager easyJet Italy.

“We enthusiastically joined this initiative with easyJet because we believe it is important to give voice the wishes of the generations of the future” commented Roberto Merlini, Chief Customer Officer at laFeltrinelli. ” We believe that bookshops are by definition the places where the possible and the impossible happen, that uncontaminated space where everyone, through reading, can dream, imagine parallel worlds, discover unknown lands, inside and outside themselves.  And if, among the many stories, there is one about a big man dressed in red with a white beard who, one day a year, makes the wishes of all the children on the planet come true, it’s nice to know that we are the place that helps to keep this magic alive”.

“We are looking forward to be able to welcome the first flight from Milan Malpensa to Rovaniemi Airport on 19 December! It’s great, that the route now offers a direct connection between the northern parts of Italy and Finland” said Petri Vuori, Vice President, Sales and Route Development at Finavia.

”Rovaniemi – The Official Hometown of Santa Claus® is a magical town at the Arctic Circle. Visit Rovaniemi is happy to welcome travellers from Italy on a new route from Milan Malpensa to Rovaniemi to experience the true Christmas spirit and enjoy the winter wonderland”- stated Sanna Kärkkäinen, Managing Director of Visit Rovaniemi.
