Ounasvaara’s First Snow Skiing Season starts on 21.10!

Ounasvaara’s First Snow skiing trail will be open for cross-country skiers on 21st October 2017. In the first phase the trail is 1-2 kilometers. The trail (9 km) will be ready on week 43. 

In the mid-October was opened up nearly 50 000 cubic meter snow storage and started making the First Snow trail. In the upcoming season the total length of the trail will be about 9 km and trail will be longer than in previous years. In addition, there’ll be an own skiing trail for biathlon in Toramo. For this purpose, 10,000 cubic meters of snow has been stored from the past season.

Trail-making begins 18th October and short route (approximately 1-2 km) will be ready on 21st October. Trail will be longer day by day and the whole First Snow Skiing route (9 km) will be ready in week 43. Skiing trail for biathlon in Toramo will be made in week 44 and there will be First Snow Skiing Biathlon competition weekend in 4th-5th November.

The First Snow Skiing trail fee

In the upcoming season First Snow Skiing trail fee for locals is 20 € / season. The family ticket is 40 € / season. Other users (not locals) can buy day tickets 10 € / person / day. Under school-aged users for free. Tickets can be bought from Santasport reception. The First Snow Skiing trail-fee is valid from the First snow ski track opening until the nature snow trails will be opened.

First Snow Season’ super weekend will be in 17th-19th November when will be held both Finnish Cup Competition and Ski jumping and Nordic Combined Finnish Championships at Ounasvaara.
