How was train traffic solved during the reconstruction period, when the bridges had been blown up? Meeting at Rotary Park’s Revontul lava pond on the banks of the Ounas River. 

📌Ke 2.7. klo 17.00 – Aaveveturista eteenpäin – From the steam locomotive onwards

The consequences of the explosion of an ammunition train at the start of reconstruction. Meeting in front of Lappia – house. 

📌Ke 9.7. klo 17.00 – Miten keskusta rakennettiin? – How was the center built?

We study the first apartment buildings built after the war in the centre of Rovaniemi. Meeting in front of Ukkoherrantie 9. 

📌Ke 16.7. klo 17.00 – Kaikki eivät palanneet – Not everyone returned

We will visit the evacuation trail of the people of Lapland, the monument to those who died in the evacuation, the heroes’ cemetery and the heroes’ statue.  Gathering at the gate of the Heroes’ Cemetery. 

📌 Ke 23.7. klo 17.00 – Arktisessa puutarhassa – In the Arctic garden

We will explore the plants, stones and art of the Arctic Garden. Gathering at the Arktikum parking place. 

📌 Ke 30.7. klo 17.00 – Koulujen Rantavitikka – Rantavitikka with Schools

We will hear how Rantavitikka grew to become a hub for education provision in the north. Korvanranta/Rantavitikantien junction .

📌 Ke 6.8. ja ke 13.8. klo 10.00 – Keskustaan kätkeytyvät taideaarteet – Art treasures hidden in the center

The tour starts from the courtyard of Korundi and proceeds towards the heart of the city. Along the way, you will hear stories about the history of the buildings and take detours to side alleys to see urban art, including sculptures. The tour concludes at the granite compass on the square located in Rantakatu, behind hotel Pohjanhovi.
