A moment for jazz and other rhythmic music on Saturday, February 14, at 2 p.m. at the main library.
Jari Karjalainen, Tatu Kantomaa, and Hannu Raudaskoski, familiar from the band Kunnan Pojat, have put together a Valentine’s Day selection of jazz and other rhythmic music.
The concert will feature international tunes performed as instrumentals and songs. The selection includes a couple of surprising interpretations of well-known songs that are not normally performed by this type of ensemble.
The music will be interspersed with poems on the theme, recited by Irene Tikka in Finnish. We will also hear the story of how jazz came to Finland and Rovaniemi.
Coffee will be served, and admission is free.
The event is part of Jazz Suomi 100, a series of events celebrating 100 years of Finnish jazz.
