We start by getting winter overalls and boots for anybody needing them, as well as helmets.
Then it's time for your driving lesson. We'll teach the necessary driving skills and then set off with our snowmobiles through the forest and over hills, following the guide driving his own snowmobile. The route can be challenging and the speed will vary according to the conditions. The time spent driving the snowmobiles is approximately 1 hour in total (½ hr/person, if two adults share the driving of one snowmobile). The distance driven in that time depends on the weather conditions and the skills of the participants. However, the length of the tour may be altered for safety reasons, or due to poor weather conditions, and at the discretion of the guide. Your safety is paramount.
We finish off with a warm drink and cookies in our old, traditional house.
Participants travel in pairs (two people per snowmobile) through the forest following our guide. It is possible for two adults to take turns driving. A single driving supplement applies for adults wishing to drive the whole way solo (one person per snowmobile, without a passenger), which is payable in addition to the standard rate, and added at the booking checkout. All children and teenagers must have an accompanying adult. Single driving supplements are not availale for adults accompanying children or teenagers. Snowmobile drivers must be aged 17 or over and have a driving licence of at least minimum classification (eg. moped/ tractor). People without a licence and children under 17 years sit behind the driver of the snowmobile and must be able to hold on to the handles by the seat. The tours are not suitable for children under 7 years.
In the case of an accident with the snowmobiles, the driver is liable to pay for damages up to a maximum of 750€.
The normal temperature limit for this tour is -25°C. In colder temperatures, the guide will decide if it is safe to start the tour, especially in the case of participating children, as wind chill needs to be taken into condsideration: e.g. at -30°C the wind chill on a snowmobile equals approx -50°C, (exposed flesh will freeze within one minute), so sufficient correct clothing is paramount. The content of this programme may therefore be subject to change at the discretion of the guide. In cases of cancellation due to force majeure, attempts will be made to provide an alternative programme.
This tour coincides with the local bus service from and to Rovaniemi.

Wind chill from velocity needs to be considered: e.g. -25°C with wind chill is equivalent to approx -40°C, where exposed flesh can freeze within two minutes, so proper clothing is paramount (eg. winter boots, hats, scarves and mittens, with gloves inside the mittens).
A booked activity may be cancelled or changed at the discretion of the guide, and routes and distances may be altered along the way for safety reasons. In cases of cancellation due to force majeure, attempts will be made to provide an alternative activity.
