Northern Lights and traditional finnish dinner in a chalet, private or small group.

Throughout the winter, the northern lights illuminate the skies of Lapland, in a magical spectacle. The Northern Lights can dance across the Lappish sky, up to 200 nights a year! We provides you a pick-up and drop-off at your hotel/city center (if you take the option “pickup included), and you will be taken about 50 km away from the city ; On the road, scan the sky because the aurora borealis can appear at any time of the evening!

Our cottage is by the river. As soon as you arrive at the chalet, we offer you a Finnish dinner which can be enjoyed in the warmth of the chalet. The Northern Lights are visible from inside the chalet if the lights are off!

After dinner, we can go and scan the sky outside the chalet, to admire the stars, the Lappish nature, the magic of the “kaamos” and the northern lights.

To see the aurora borealis, the sky must be clear and there must be no light pollution nearby; they can last a few seconds or several hours. the luminous bursts of the aurora appear about every other night between September and March.

The Sami legend says that the lights in the sky are produced by the celestial fox which creates sparks with its tail while running at full speed, on the snowy peaks!

Scientists explain that the aurora borealis is caused by solar winds which send electric particles towards the earth (but the Sami theory is more fun!)

At 22.00, the evening at the chalet ends but you can see the northern lights on the way back. Don’t forget to scan the sky, on the road.

You must come with warm clothes and camera if you want take some photos.
