Let's open the Christmas season together with Santa Claus  Rovaniemi is the hometown of Santa Claus and it is christmassy all year round.  The highlight of the year is though at the end of November, when the christmas   season is opened officially by the most famous citizen of Rovaniemi. Many elves,   citizens and tourists take also part in the festivity.  28.11. The Grand Opening of the Christmas season     3 - 4 pm Warm-up for the Grand Christmas Opening     Reindeer sleigh rides and husky sled rides can be experienced in the Santa Claus     Village and the shops have a wide range of special offers. Campfire can be found      in the grounds of Santamus and by the Christmas House.      4 - 4.30 pm Traditional Grand Christmas Opening in the Central plaza                       of the Santa Claus Village      The wait for Christmas begins at the ArcticCircle with great ambience for the      whole family to enjoy.      Folk gather at the Santa Claus Village for marking the Grand Opening of the      Christmas together with Santa Claus.      But, goodness me, the Christmas key has gone missing!      Master Elf is given the mission to search for the Christmas key that has      mysteriously disappeared. Without the key, Christmastime cannot begin.      The exciting tale takes people across the world. Will Master Elf succeed in his         mission? The warm spirited half hour offers children and adults the magic and      excitement of Christmas, highlighting in Santa Claus proclaiming the start of the      great wait for Christmas     4.30 - 6 pm The Wondrous Grand Christmas Opening continues...     ...at the Santa Claus Village with atmosphere by provided by reindeer sleigh rides      and husky sled rides, or by frying sausages on the campfire. Christmas Shopping      may be done through to 7 pm. Of course, you can also meet Santa Claus in      person and tell him your last minute wishes! You can have your family portrait      taken with Sanrta - and even use them as Christmas cards.
